Orphan Sunday 2022 on 6 November
Dear Pastors, leaders, fellowships and members of our union of Baptist Churches
We hope that you are ready and excited about "Orphan Sunday 2022 on 6 November!"
In particular, we are very excited about how Orphan Sunday has officially aligned with the Global Network initiative at Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO) – a movement to ensure all nations, utilizing the power of healthy networks, will see every child in a loving family, embraced within a collaborative community! Together, we will all work to grow the catalytic power of Orphan Sunday around the world. This work will not only leverage the power of Orphan Sunday but will integrate fully with year-round church-led community action so that everyone will be given the opportunity to be Better Together for vulnerable children and families.
Orphan Sunday has been a powerful tool to invite churches to join the movement, and is used by many to raise awareness of the needs of vulnerable children and families in their communities.
We’ve compiled resources for steps towards becoming Better Together for vulnerable children and families where you live, inspiration for year-round collaboration, ideas, and a sample rollout plan to help equip you for the year ahead (and beyond!). A field guide is available for this purpose. You are welcome to use any of the ideas throughout this field guide or come up with your own. See the link below to download the guide. Should you and your church plan to participate in this process beyond Orphan Sunday, please contact us as we would like to help in any way we can.
To put the Orphan and foster care situation in our country into perspective, according to research projections, it was projected that there would be 5,5 million orphans by 2015. In all probability we might have passed that figure in the past seven years.
In the interim below is a 4 minute video for you to use on Orphan Sunday as well as Promotional Posters. We have also included four postcard size slides for your use.

Have a blessed Orphan Sunday, as you remember, pray for or visit orphans.
Yours in His Service

DOLM Network Child Protection Week 2021
May is Child Protection Month National Child Protection Week is 30 May to 6 June 2021 National Child Protection Week is marked annually to raise awareness for the rights of children. It aims to mobilise all sectors of society including the local Church to care for and protect children. Indicate your support to protect a child by wearing a green ribbon during Child Protection Week. www.gov.za/ChildProtectionWeek2021 Dear Pastors & Leaders, Warm greetings in the Grace & Peace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ from the DOLM team. This year Child Protection Week in South Africa is from the 30th of May to the 6th of June. We regularly read in our newspapers and hear on radio and tv broadcast of the increasing levels of abuse on our society today. Therefore, it is truly a sad reality that we must have a week that commemorates children and the need to protect them from all kinds of abuse. It is also a sobering reminder of the challenges that our children face. Some of these challenges that they should not be facing. This is a clarion call a of the responsibility and privilege that we as adults have to protect our children and not harm them. We are sure you have come across many individuals and organizations in your community tirelessly working to protect children. We want to encourage you to pray for them and if possible in some practical way take the opportunity to recognize them. Should you need some more information about Child Protection week and what others are doing I have included list of links for you to follow:

Become a Child Protection Ambassador, someone who upholds the rights of children, and wear a green ribbon. Turn your social media green (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Educate yourself on what is going on with child abuse in your area and find out who is involved and how you can help.
It is important that we all continue to raise awareness and our voices against abuse. We encourage you to wear a green ribbon for this period to highlight that we stand in solidarity and to remind us that there is hope.
Please join us for our first DOLM Online PRAYER MEETING. This meeting will focus on Child Protection. 5-6 June: Viva’s World-wide weekend of Prayer
https://www.viva.org/pray/world-weekend-of-prayer/
With one billion children living in poverty worldwide, international children’s charity Viva is calling on Christians to pray for children at risk during their World Weekend of Prayer from 5 & 6 June 2021.
The theme for Viva’s prayer weekend this year is Jesus’ words in in Matthew’s gospel, “I am with you always.”
Viva has produced a range of resources, including prayer postcards, a video and activities for all ages, to equip churches and individuals to pray for children at risk around the world.
