The Baptist Union of Southern Africa’s 2013 Assembly passed the following resolution regarding the role of Christian Citizenship Committee
Recognises the prophetic responsibility of the church
In “demonstrating and making known God’s will and care for all mankind” (Statement of Baptist Principles);
its duty to be both faithful to the biblical message and relevant to our time and situation;
and to use all means consistent with the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:22)
Re-affirms the role of the C.C.C.:
In giving leadership in matters of personal and social ethics;
Helping our churches with information on current issues, and making representation on social issues with others, and in its own name, to the relevant authorities.
The Assembly further encourages the C.C.C.:
To use on-line means of communication to facilitate its work and to respond timeously to issues.
