BWD: The BWD Director, Patricia Ihlenfeldt, recently visited the USA, where she attended a board meeting in Boone, North Carolina, to discuss the future of the ministry of the Good News Dolls. She preached in First Raleigh Baptist Church, attended a two-day Christian Women’s Job Corp national trainers meeting at the WMU in Birmingham, Alabama, and a three-day CWJC training at Shucco Springs. She also shared at Pinehurst Baptist at a North Carolina WMU meeting and at Aberdeen Baptist. BUSA 6th National Men’s Conference: over 150 men from six of our Associations, including 25 BUSA pastors, attended the Conference, which was held in Durban from 24-26 August 2018. The theme was ‘Real Christianity in a Challenging World’ and focused on the letters to the seven churches in the book of Revelation. Dr Bob Moore of the Baptist General Association of Virginia was the guest speaker and the delegates were challenged to be real, godly men within their marriages, homes, churches and communities. BBA: The GS and George Ngamlana met with over 100 pastors/church leaders at Umtata Baptist and Bethany Emmanuel Baptist at the beginning of August to discuss the proposed new structure for the BUSA, which will be voted on at the forthcoming Assembly. A positive ethos prevailed at both meetings and much misunderstanding was cleared up.
Ministry of BU President: Dr Linzay Rinquest was privileged to minister at the Men’s Conference, Esikhawini Baptist and at a special Presidential rally at Glenwood Community Church last Sunday evening. Folk were blessed as he shared the vision of reaching the 0-30 age group for Christ.
Partnership Ministries: over 500 folk gathered at the West End Baptist Church in Port Elizabeth on 12 August for the opening of their newly extended building. Dr Larry Aultman, the Missions Pastor of the First Redeemer Church in Atlanta, USA was the guest speaker. The West End church had been struggling to complete the building for the last four years and the First Redeemer Church assisted them with the completion. It was a wonderful occasion at which great thanks were expressed to God for His miraculous provision through our partners, the church members and friends of the congregation.
The KZNBA recently held its Council meeting at Lambert Road Baptist Church. 30 folk representing 28 churches attended. The programme focussed on the new proposed structure for the Baptist Union and was received by an overwhelming response for the new direction. The WPBA recently held its council meeting at Kensington Baptist and elected new Officers for the Association. 53 folk representing 36 churches were in attendance.
Church News: “Of the Ages, for All Ages”
Honeyridge Baptist conducted their 30th Mission of Mercy trip to Zimbabwe since 2008. The trips are funded by the participants. They visited Bulawayo and Harare, and provided groceries for the various ministries as well as medicines and medical supplies for the Karanda Mission Hospital. A special 9 August Women’s Day Conference at Lakeview Baptist saw an attendance of over 1 000 women of various religions from all over the Western Cape. The keynote speaker was Desiree November, whose theme was ‘Heaven is Real.’

Ill: Charmaine Dickson (BU Foundation) has been diagnosed with lung cancer; Desiree November (Lakeview) is recovering from an ankle operation; Nelson Abraham (Buccleuch) continues with dialysis and is also recovering from a hip operation; Ken Clack (Lambert Road) has had chemo and is not well at the present time; Jenny du Plooy (retired) will be having more chemotherapy.
